Christmas Card Bookbinding

A Christmas card in September? Yep! It may only be September, but for my Stamp Camp this month, Christmas Card of a plaid deer and gold ribbon using a bookbinding technique we dove headlong into Christmas, a Christmas Card to be more exact. Have you ever learned about the history of these cards? Fascinating. For this card,  I CASE’d this beautiful card from Independent Demonstrator, Wendy Cranford’s page because I just fell in love with it, and so did my Stamp Camp attendees!  It was the perfect card to get in the holiday spirit.  I just adore this bookbinding fold and know that I will be using it often.  This card was made with retired paper, but you can use any cardstock and DSP you want depending on what you have on hand, which I am all about using up what you have!  Use your imagination to come up with something that inspires you!

To start, prep all of your elements:

4-1/4”x11” Basic Black CS for your card base

4”x 4” Basic White CS

4”x 4” Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper (or whichever DSP you’d like to use)

3-3/4” x 3-3/4” Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper (or again, whichever DSP you’d like to use)

1” x 4” Peaceful Prints Designer Series Paper (or whichever DSP you’d like to use)

1” x 3-3/4” Be Dazzling Paper (or you could even use the Gold Foil Sheets (132622) or the Gold and Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper (156844)

5/8” x 3-1/2” Basic Black CS

Now it’s time to put your elements together.

Score the card base at 5-1/2” and 6-3/4”.

Add the ribbon to the left side, tie a bow or a not and then fold the CS in half and glue the center together flat at the scored points.

Add the layers of designer series paper to the front.

Stamp whichever sentiment you’d like in Versa Mark ink (102283) on the 5/8” piece of black cardstock and emboss in Gold embossing powder (155555)

Add your Be Dazzling (or Gold foil) paper on the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals (104430 )and add the sentiment piece on top.

Happy Stamping!!
